Take the following items to each game - your rulebook - Refing wallet with game card, yellow and red cards - whistle - watch or stopwatch - linesman flags - pad & pen or pencil Sweat pants and rain jacket (* or large black plastic garbage bag will work)

How to become a Soccer Referee
Step 1 - Contact SYSA Referee Coordinator Step 3 Sign up for a Referee Clinic - SYSA will cover the cost of the Clinic Step 4 Attend the Referee Clinic - The Clinic will be held on a weekend Step 5 - After attending the Referee Clinic -You will receive a Referee kit/equipment, which includes the following: Referee uniform - Shirt and shorts -Whistle and lanyard -Hand pump -Linesmen Flags (2 flags) -Referee wallet with yellow and red card SYSA will provide all of the above equipment. All Equipment must be return at the end of the season. If a referee misplaces their equipment it will be up to the Referee to replace the equipment. Refs will be required to purchase a black pair of referee socks to complete their referee kits New Referees will be required to referee 1 - Age 9 -12 league (3/4 Field) games with a senior referee. You will also be required to referee 1 - Age 13 - 17 (Large Field) game with a senior ref. You will then qualify as a SYSA youth referee and receive a MSA crest indicating you have met all requirements. Please note that while training all new referees will receive $15/game. Referees will be paid at the end of Each month. Referees must arrive 15 minutes prior to the game scheduled start time. |
